Madeleine Lawler

Madeleine originally joined the UIC in 2010, working on both sides of the business - consultancy and systems - and both sides of the world, including a 6 month spell in Scotland on the implementation of Kestrel for a Train Operating Company.

She left full-time employment in 2016 but stayed on the books as an Associate, helping out when the diary was full and also with some sensitive assignments where a 'one step removed' approach was helpful. Madeleine's analytical skills have also been extremely useful. In 2018 she completed her PhD - Social Enterprises, Delivering Education and Training: A Study of Outcomes and Delivery Models - so now she is Doctor Lawler.

Since 2016, Madeleine has held a number of senior positions, the most remote of which was Director of Community and Economic Development at Winton Shire Council in regional Queensland, where part of her portfolio included the Dinosaur Museum. She currently works as CEO Regional Development Australia Mid North Coast and Norfolk Island.

Richard (the UIC's founder and original owner) did not want the UIC to go to a stranger upon his retirement, but owning a business is not for everyone. When Richard met Madeleine and her family in the Story Bridge Hotel on Kangaroo Point to ask her whether she was interested in taking over the UIC, it took her somewhere between 4 and 5 seconds to say yes. The consultancy business transferred over on 1 January 2024. The systems business followed on 1 February 2026. This may come as a surprise to some of our existing clients reading this - which means things have gone as planned.
